The Future of Elijah's Place
Elijah’s Place is working toward the future development of a 24/7 residential group home for autistic adults as part of its long-term vision for expanded services. This initiative is guided by a commitment to dignity, safety, and long-term stability, with the goal of supporting residents in building meaningful, supported lives within their community. Early planning will focus on defining the type of supports to be offered and gathering input from autistic adults, families, and professionals to help shape a program that reflects real needs and lived experiences.
The organization will take careful steps to meet all state and local requirements for residential care, including licensing, zoning, and health and safety standards. During this phase, policies and procedures will be developed to protect resident rights and ensure consistent, ethical care. At the same time, Elijah’s Place will work to build sustainable funding through a combination of grants, community support, and other appropriate funding sources, with the goal of keeping services accessible while maintaining long-term stability.
As plans progress, Elijah’s Place will seek a residential property that meets both regulatory requirements and the practical needs of autistic adults, with attention to accessibility, comfort, and sensory-friendly design. Staff will be thoughtfully recruited and trained in autism-informed and trauma-informed approaches, with an emphasis on respectful, person-centered support. The program will open gradually, allowing time to refine systems and ensure quality care.
